I was just wondering what you all think of the fact that Galder has joined Dimmu Borgir? I think that it is good for Dimmu Borgir since Galder is a very creative musician. But even though Galder has assured us that he will keep on going with Old Man's Child, I can't help being a little worried. I really like Dimmu Borgir, but nothing beats OMC in my opinion. If I didn't think that, I would never have started this website in the first place...

So, please give me your opinions!

haven`t we had this discussion before???
jj, I agree with you, Galder is great for DB, but the resimbelance between DB and OMC gets too big, maybe Galder lose lots of interrest on playing in two bands that plays the same music, so one of two things are bound to happen:
1. Galder get bored with OMC and quits
or
2. Galder get bored with playing the same music in two different bands, so OMC takes a real turn in the musicial direction.

I think that we discussed this earlier, but I thought that I would try to get some more people to join the discussions (the guestbook is crowded, but not the forum) :)

You have some good points there. I think that Dimmu Borgir might consume pretty much of Galders time with all the touring and stuff. It will be interesting to hear the new Dimmu Borgir stuff with Galder and ICS Vortex, but as I said before .. it won't be even close to O.M.C. anyway!!!

... another thing I don't really like is that ICS Vortex left Borknagar for Dimmu Borgir. Quintessence was fuckin incredible. Maybe not black metal, but an excellent piece of musical art! I think that he should have stayed with Borknagar. I guess he couldn't have played with both bands like Galder because they both (Borknagar & DB) tour so much!

Well, I`m one of those few who did like the new Borknagar album so much, it`s a great album, but I like much more The Older Domain Album.

Well, I think that the older Borknagar albums were pretty much "standard black metal", which means I didn't find them too exciting. Quintessence however wasn't black metal, but one hell of a fine metal masterpiece :)

I can highly recommend the new Gehenna album (Murder) by the way. They are not black metal anymore, they are now pure death metal! One hell of an album anyhow!!!

well, seems like we don`t need more to have discussions:) but I have told people on the DB forum to come here, that forum has over 50 post each day...

Anyway, have you heard "The Older Domain"?? "normal black metal" I don`t think so, at least not the clean vocal!! Do you know which album "AD Noctum" is on, have that one on mp3, and that`s not a normal BM song in mine opinion either!

Gehenna`s "Murder" -> the coolest riffs and the coolest drums, BUT the vocal stinks, sucks, fucked up, screwed etc. It totally destroy the superb music, I really don`t like vocal like that, remains me of Slayers, they got the same deal, good music and terrible vocal:(

Talking about new albums, Midian, the new work of COF. I`ve only spoke to one person who likes it, but he even claims it`s the album of the year, all other I`ve talked to hates that album. Personally I like the album, the intro really hits you, the music isn`t as good as it used to be, but it`s good enough, and harder than usual COF music.

OK, maybe I overdid it a little by stating that Borknagar is standard black metal :) I didn't say that they are bad, in fact I like all their albums (I have them all on cd as a matter of fact)! My point was that I don't find them too original! Their sound is well tested by many other bands, but I must must admit that they (Borknagar) performs it better than most of the others :)

Ad Noctum is excellent, you can find it on THE ARCHAIC COURSE (199:cool: ...

Bonus Track:
after what I`ve heard the bonus track is also suppose to be on the digipack, the reason why the japanese always got bonus-track is because the albums get later released there, so to prevent japanese to buy from other countries they made special edition for them:( like EDT: had live tracks of "Spellbound", and SBD had the cover song: "masses for a new messiah".

Midian:
Still waiting for an answer!!!

Thanks:
For that picture you gave me from Demonic Horde, I`ll have to make that picture section on my mayhem page very soon:)

What about Midian?

Well, I actually like the album. I managed to get it a whole month before it was officially released :) We received a promo copy to review at 0132.cjb.net. (http://0132.cjb.net.) So I have listened to it quite a lot! I am especially fond of Adrian Erlandssons drumming. He has been one of my favourite drummers since I first heard his work with At The Gates some decade ago. So I don't miss Nick Barker at all...

But I still think that Dusk ... and her embrace is their best effort up to date. Nothing beats the mighty atmosphere on that album!!!

I'm fine with it. Galder's the best choice Dimmu could've made for this, so it's good for them. And it's great for Galder too, I'd say, because it gives him a chance to work with Simen Hestnaes, which is something I'd love to hear.
