Just as has been done on the Dimension Zero forum, ask some questions to get to know the band members better, if it's cool with the band of course. First up is Ville Friman, guitarist of Insomnium!

Anybody can participate, just don't go too nuts with the questions. We don't want to scare Ville off :cool:

1. How long have you been playing guitar?

2. Do you play any sports?

3. What are some of your favorite bands?

4. What is the craziest thing you've seen a fan do?

1. How long have you been playing guitar?

I guess I picked guitar first time in the spring 1996. So I've been playing guitar since then with debatable success. Never taken any lessons and I bet you can hear it :)

2. Do you play any sports?

No I don't. I go to gym once in a while, take long walks with my girlfriend and ride with bike to school/work everyday. That'll keep me "fit". I use to dive and swim a lot when I was younger and I have had my share with some combat sports (Han Moo Do). Those were the days...

3. What are some of your favorite bands?

At the moment: Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, Katatonia, Killswitch Engage, Tenhi, Ulver, Sigur ros, Múm, Kaki King (awesome girl => www.kakiking.com) and many others. I got quite wide taste in music...

4. What is the craziest thing you've seen a fan do?

To ask an autograph from me ;)

5. What is the last album you've bought?

Emperor - Anthems To the Welkin At Dusk

6. Is there any kind of music that you're into that would suprise your fans?

7. Do you have any pets?

No, at least any I really want to have. We had a problem with little moths which ate flours and stuff. We really had many of them but suddenly they just luckily disappeared.

8. What's your favorite food?

I guess pizza and all traditional home made finnish food.

9. Is there a song you absolutely, positively hate with a passion?

There's not just one song but many different songtypes I detest. Like all love-whining-my-heart's-broken Celine Dion songs, all trendyhippyminimalisticrRNB songs, dull rap and so on...Almost every commercial songs from the MTV are quite bad and vain.

10. Do clowns scare you?

No, except I was afraid of pellehermannin nakuttavaa karttakeppiä when I use to watch pikkukakkonen daily ;)

11. If you could buy any one thing in the world, what would it be?

I just read the interview of you guys from imperiumi and this Black Vomit (for people not read the interview, this is told to be the "practise-drink" of Insomnium) sounded interesting. 1) What happened to your death vocals on the "enter My silence" song......sounds like Metalcore vocals I wonder why?

2)will you ever tour in the U.S.?

3)Could you tour with Kalmah, Wintersun, and Eternal Tears of Sorrow?

4)Will all your songs sound like Hardcore/Metalcore type of songs or back to your old death metal style? (If you don't get what Im saying listen to your new song "Enter My Silence")

5)How about if you lessen the acoustics a bit, kinda distracts songs from the message your trying to display?

I'm not Ville :P , but what the hell do you mean when you keep referring to "Enter My Silence"? That's not an Insomnium song, its from another band Ville is in...that won't be an insomnium song so I don't think you have to worry about Insomnium turning "metalcore" even though that song wasn't really metalcore or hardcore.

I've seen that you've made biology studies in ecology evolution and you are doing your thesis
I have passed my third year in biology, the problem is that I don't find myself in biology, something that can makes me happy when I get up in the morning, I was interesting by ethology and behaviour relationship but I'm not very sure now of what I want to do because in France where I live, behaviour studies don't get enoug interest by our governement ^^ and it seems to be that this field is full,no work, perhaps it will be better for me to study human behaviour, I don't know...
So I wanted to ask you if you can give some advices for me to find my way through ecology and ethology( if you can^^), if you can advise me some school because I am about to ask if I can participate to the ERASMUS program, so it can be good for me
