Never heard of 'em until now. Looks promising. Think I'll order this when done farting around on this board. If it sucks I'll definitely be back to trash it...ha. Also, the appearance of this forum makes me feel right at home, in Hell!

Right now it's a tie between "Song of the Storm" and "Black Water". But i'm sure it will quickly turn into the whole album!

Just got this a couple of days ago. This is a pretty damn solid production. Definitely grows on you the more you listen to it.
Sticker on my disc says:
INSOMNIUM
Classic melodic Scandinavian metal
akin to vintage In Flames, early Amorphis
except even better!

Thanx, but I think the postage would be much more expensive than the CD, so I'll better try to find it here.... and as long as I've got the promotional copy it isn't that important because all I'm missing is the booklet...

The first time i heard Insomnium was when they had a gig in Nummirock-festival, summer 2002. And unfortunately I don't remember much of that gig becase I was a bit drunk. Too bad. :| I definately should have heard them earlier, because the band was from the same town I lived in at the time, and they had had many gigs in there. But nope, wasn't I dumb? :)
And then, in january 2003, i heard Medeia in Metalliliitto (finnish metal-radioshow), and I was in love. :) I bought the album immediately, and it still spins in my cd-player at least once a week.
Hmm... favourite songs...? Ill-Starred Son, Song Of The Storm and In The Halls Of Awaiting.

It's a very good album. It's in my top-5 list of albums. I've never heard melodies like that. Looking forward to the next album, I'm sure it will rock. The best songs on this album are Ill-Starred Son, Song of the Storms and Journey Unknown.

The intro in Shades of Deep Green is amazing but on the whole the songs I like the most are Ill Starred Son (awesome song but i dont like the acoustic part that much). Bitter end (damn catchy chorus, this would be great to see live, I can see myself yelling: BITTER is the nightly silence, BITTER till the end of time! :)). Albums "hit song" the elder is one of the best too of course. I love some parts of In The Halls of Awaiting but some parts just float away and I start to think something else.
Edit:
Curse on you evil insomnium! Now when I started to think about In The Halls Of Awaiting I had to start listening it :p.

I agree. The main reason that makes The Bitter End the best song is the chorus. Ill-Stared Son and The Elder are close seconds.

yeah.. the chorus in the biter end is really amazing.. but I must say that In The Halls Of Awaiting have a chorus just as grate.. if not grater.. :finger: I think its one of Insomniums beat songs... *growls "Will you follow me! through eternity,
to another world! to the quiet halls!"*
but the chorus would be nothing whit out Niilo :D

I got since the day... first and just got halls... yesterday. They are both quiet different and quiet the same. Since the day has a general dark atmosphere to the whole recording and most of the songs are midpaced. Halls has some very good straightforward faster songs and then some songs are slow full of a very bleak sorrowful atmosphere. I really can't decide which I like better so I won't. These are two of my favorite cd's in my whole collection though.

I can't decide which I like best either!! For me they can just flow as one huge album, I just set up a playlist on my iRiver with every song on, plus Numen Divinum at the end :)
And I know all the lyrics to each song now :)

Haha, I'm not too hot on my growling... I did do something of an attempt at Dark Tranquillity kareoke once, but it was hit and miss to say the least...
It's the iRiver H140, the black and chrome 40GB one that just got replaced by the shittier looking H340 with the colour screen. I think mine looks sexier, managed to get a new one off ebay :)

damn right!! I more or less point and laugh if I see someone with those goddamn white earphones..... at the same time proud knowing that my jukebox is so much better ;)
Before this H140 i have now, I had a H110, the first one that came out, I waited AGES for that thing to be released, but it was worth it ;) I had it for over a year, then I decided I needed more storage (10gb was full up!) so I sold 'my baby' to a friend :) and got me the one I have now ;)

I don't want to pick a favorite.. :: pouts :: The whole albulm is like.. genius!

haha.. gawd, I'm a loser.
Ever just grab the cd, and wander around wherever while listening to them on your headphones. They fit waaaay too perfectly in the wintertime for me.
In the Halls of Awaiting though.. first song I listened to. First favorite. First song I attempted to play on guitar by them. Yeeeeah... Down-hearted my tune.
OOOOOOH! I'VE LOST MY WAY IN THE DARK.. STRAYED APART FROM MY LOVE!
I'VE FACED THE DEMONS OF MIGHT.. PASSED AWAY INTO SHADES!
aw, right when it speeds up.. brandi = :P
