Pakana

I just thought perhaps I could announce the eventual release of the first official demo of May Withers. And of course I can.

5 songs of rocking metal, with female vocals of course. Cool colour covers and cd-r as format. The price would be 5 neuros including postage even to the furthest corner of the world.

Email wille@welho.com in case of interest.

Any mp3's available?
What kind of music is that?

Pakana
03-19-2002, 11:00 PM
u?´Z?amples because we still don't have a homepage. But a description... well, we could be influenced by Katatonia, Anathema, The Gathering and the like.

(And as if you didn't guess by now, I play in the band.)

How does it compare with Moonsorrow as far as style?
And what do you do in the band? Where does it fall on the heaviness scale 1-5?

Pakana
03-20-2002, 09:22 AM
alllison: I would say it doesn't compare with Moonsorrow at all. Well, it's metal but a lot more in the rock direction. The fact that you enjoy newer Sentenced makes me suspect that you could like this band too. Hel knows. I (try to) play the drums in the band. Heaviness 3, I'd say.

Valkyrianvixen/Trollhorn: Ha! :D

Woe!

Be creative, sign something unexpected and send it in the same letter? Please? Pretty please? I'm a loyal Moonsorrow worshipper, mind you!

I have heard the demo (since Pakana was so nice and send it to me) and I can do some promotion too. It´s very good, talently played and the vocals are nice.
The music isn´t anything like Moonsorrow :) , but I can recommend it to you Allissson. But A VARNING; the songs won´t open the first second you hear it. :)

I don´t see any influences of Sentenced there, but who am I to say when I personally love Sentenced.

It´s worth to buy. But I think that kind of music would really suit to some club, the songs would have their third dimension.

Sounds nice. And Ville, I'm the somnium@myrealbox.com (taken before I heard (of) Finntroll...) kid so you must at least give me a board title if I would happen to wish so one day, because I supported you. :p

It's kind of strange that good music has sometimes been on charts. Like the Mike Oldfield hits ("Moonlight Shadow" and the Tubular Bells, don't know about others). These are vitun great.

The CD-R format may not work in some players (e.g. my tape recorder, computer) few last songs don't work properly...

Ville, i didn't know you're a goth! :D

Pakana

May Withers humbly thanks you. But me, a goth!? Those are also words you ought to take back.

Laine
04-02-2002, 05:36 PM
Do you have to wear two top hats now? That must be annoying.

allissson
04-02-2002, 06:34 PM
Goth.........ehhh......I somehow can't see that. He'd have to dye his hair some cheap shade of black first. You can ALWAYS tell when someone has dyed their hair black, you know.........

Laine
04-08-2002, 01:47 AM
I get asked almost monthly why don't I dye my hair black. Enough of a reason not to do so.

allissson
04-08-2002, 07:01 AM
Laine, what colour is your hair naturally? Don't say blonde because I'll tell you that you'd be a total fool to dye it black.

Laine
04-08-2002, 09:36 AM
Blonde, of course. There is no other hair color in Finland!

Serenity
04-08-2002, 05:11 PM
Exept red from the jar

If Laine has thick hair then it doesn´t look so bad, but blonde hair tend to be thin and it looks sooooo bad when someone dyes them black, especially when the roots start to show. Go and see example from To/Die/For´s video Hollow Heart

allissson
04-08-2002, 05:19 PM
Yeah, I hear that Hanna! TDF look like a bunch of cheap tarts in that video. One would think that if they are going to make a video to represent themselves that they'd at LEAST have gone to get their roots done first. Laine, remember that you'll have to have your mother touch up the roots about every 2-3 weeks if you do that. It will become a pain in the ass for you.

I don't mess with hair colour at all. I am afraid to do it and also don't want the hassle of maintaining it. I was born with chestnut/sable brown hair and that suits me fine :)

Laine
04-08-2002, 06:17 PM
Hm. I replied to this one, but the message seems gone.

Summary:
-Could maybe have thin hair, no idea
-Won't dye my hair any colour, unless forced by a future girlfriend or similar authority
-TDF sucks

04-08-2002, 08:21 PM
I think it's great that you understand who's in charge before you meet that "authorative figure". ;)

Laine
04-08-2002, 09:24 PM
Understanding of that might be a good way to avoid the "beaten into submission" phase.

I guess that "statement" of mine had a point in reality too, not just being humorous as I intended... (not that I don't/didn't believe that women could be like vitr described)

allissson
04-09-2002, 05:01 PM
Laine, you did leave yourself open on that one......I couldn't resist.

vitr - remember that guy in SFP forum that had the prince albert done and was telling us how he knows how women feel now. HE was asking for it making that kind of comment

Laine
04-09-2002, 06:14 PM
By the way, I have to open up.

I visited a clothes store today (mother had seen some coat there which I might be able to wear, and as I'm running pretty low on coats...), and I really can't describe the mixed feeling of vitutation, frustration and disgust ( angst is a good word for it) I got from that place (or clothes stores in general). I hate the thought of spending (a lot) money in some straps of cloth which only purpose is to keep you warm, as you can use yer parents' old garments, or whatever flea markets there are. Hatehatehate.

And this brings up another reason for me to hate democracy. We can't keep slaves, can we? So now I have to find a female partner to do the necessary sock/underwear shopping for me after I leave the house. Degrading for the lady, innit? I want back to the antique days. Haaaaate. Damn commercial-consumer culture. Out.

allissson
04-09-2002, 06:55 PM
Man, do I hear THAT! I can't stand going clothes shopping and when I do have to go nobody can stand to be with me. I sew and that makes it 10 times worse because I can estimate what it cost to make a garment as opposed to what the shops are charging for it. then I turn it inside out to see how it's stitched. Main problem is finding something I LIKE. For like shorts and tops I can usually find something that i like, but when it comes to dresses - I never buy dresses, I design and make my own. It's the only way i will get what I want. Everything in the shops is so nigger-looking these days and they want a small fortune for something that I wouldn't even wear to work in the garden in.

It's not degrading for a woman to buy socks & underwear for men. I do it all the time for my husband and son. SOMEBODY has to....But just wait Laine - you'll have your karma - she'll send you down the shops for a box of Tampax.

BTW - what is a coat? ;)

Serenity
04-09-2002, 08:11 PM
I hate shopping pants, that´s the main reason I prefer skirts and dresses... Not a single piece of f...king garment won´t fit on me because I´m not 180 cm tall and weight 40 kg´s, that´s the way they make female garments nowadays..., size over 38 is impossible...and a woman with the shoe size of 41...don´t even get me started.

and I´m also cheap with prizes, I don´t want to pay from clothes exept those that really are ME, luckily my mum sews and she will make me some clothes...But the salespersonnel is usually the worst, they assume you´re a criminal and breathe to your neck...uuuuuggghhh.... luckily I´ve got enough clothes at the moment.

Laine
04-09-2002, 11:34 PM
Erm, "coat", as in "raincoat" - a jacket if ye will. However I am supposed to know these words? :p

Laine
04-09-2002, 11:39 PM
I don't think my feelings had to do anything with the shop's selection... I just hate it! :D

Must be wonderful, that pants-shopping... luckily my mother wears men's clothes, so I use hers. (as if they'd even fit on her anymore) :p

allissson
04-10-2002, 12:09 AM
I know what a coat is, I was just being cheeky. I have not had to wear one in many years you see...... ;)

".. luckily my mother wears men's clothes, so I use hers. (as if they'd even fit on her anymore"

Laine
04-10-2002, 12:33 AM
She has lots of old stuff which she can give to me?

Whaddayamean what's the deal? I don't see a deal. "Men's clothes" - I meant more like "androgynous clothes". Whatever. I just ate, I can't make a good reply. :p

allissson
04-10-2002, 12:46 AM
Unisex clothes........ok, now I read you. It's just that women don't usually wear men's clothes unless......well.......anyway. I see what you mean now.

Laine
04-10-2002, 12:59 AM
Stuff like straight pants (whatever, the businessman type of pants anyway) and normal shirts ain't that perverse in my opinion.

vitr
04-10-2002, 03:12 PM
One thing I never do is wear anyhting anyone else has worn - just my conditioning after a childhood of wearing cousins' hand-downs. My cousins were pink frilly kids.

I own about 5 pairs of jeans and 10 jumpers, 15 tshirts and about 2 weeks worth of socks and undies. I have a trouser suit for weddings and job interviews. Absolutely *no* skirts, I wore too many as a kid and it's time to be comfortable and be myself. I don't feel dressed in a a skirt. I have three shorts and a handful of nice summer tops, which I never wear at home because my Dad is *the* archetypal leering potbellied groin-scratching redneck in a holey vest. That's all the clothes I have. I have about 4 pairs of shoes - DM's, ankle boots, and two flipflops.

I always found it degrading when my mother bought my clothes, she tried to dictate my image, my opinions and everyhting about me. So I was quite adamant about buying own clothes and earrings from puberty onwards.

People here are lucky if they don't have that @#%$.

I wouldn't buy undies for *any* man (yuk!), he should be independent IMO. Dictating your own image is a fundamental human right. My ex got his undies bought by his mother, so that gives some clue as to why we split up.... ;)

Laine
04-10-2002, 03:19 PM
Weell, I guess I can pray to Crom for strength and handle the necessary clothes shopping, from a supermarket perhaps. But those mainstream clothes stores, to hell with them! Salvation Army (or whatever they were called) and flea markets are the way to go.

allissson
04-10-2002, 04:37 PM
Laine, I am sure you'd have no objection to shopping in alko surely? ;)

I'm opposite vitr - I hate trousers. I feel claustrophobic in them. I wear shorts all the time, but for work I always wear skirts. I own no dress trousers, about 30 or so skirts, 3 pairs of long jeans (which are rarely worn), no jumpers (when in hell would I get to wear them?) bras, knickers, socks, tights, a bunch of shirts.

Yes Laine, flea markets are excellent places to shop. It's usually all knocked off stuff but I don't care its source long as I get it for cheap :)

Serenity
04-10-2002, 05:36 PM
My mum often buys me clothes and I like it ´cause then I don´t have to do it myself and I also spare money ´cause she won´t accept any payment (she doesn´t always even ask me if I need those clothes), she knows my size better than I do :)
This has been going on for years and I assumed it would end when I leave the house, but no, she still does it.

BUT

I have one main difference to your situation vitr; My mum knows my taste and she knows I won´t wear anything I don´t really like (she has learned that alright) and many of the most extreme, crazy and lowable clothes has come from my mother, maybe it´s also due to the fact she´s not so cheap with prizes either. But still I´d say my best clothes have come from used clothes sales, so I really can´t see your point vitr, why couldn´t you wear old stuff?

Laine
04-10-2002, 06:41 PM
Shopping in Alko? Maybe some whiskey/wine for special occasions... kilju and mead exist, y'know. :p

Hmm, my mum has pretty much the same habits as Serenity's. (Although I wear always the same kind of clothes, so buying them for me isn't really that difficult.) Hopefully she too will continue buying clothes for me when I'm older.

allissson
04-10-2002, 07:12 PM
I don't see why she wouldn't, Laine. I know that I will certainly still be buying my son's clothes when he's all grown up. He's easy to buy for - if it's got a sports team's logo on it he will like it. :) And jean shorts. Hell, can't go wrong.

Hil.

I really don't have anything to say on this subject, but I have to ask one thing from you All. The person on the SFP board talking about his Prince Albert... that wasn't me, was it? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT=":o"> I recall hazily that I've compared that experience to .. yknow.

My computer is at last functioning properly - no thanks to Necrosoft. Grrrr... I. Hate. Computers.

I'm listening to some really eerie, disturbing drum'n'bass at the moment. Totally hypnotic and it's making me nervous. Cool. :) And I blame Pete from Spinefarm for introducing me to this song. Dom & Roland: Imagination. Try it.

Pakana
04-11-2002, 07:39 AM
Do not listen to Pete!

vitr
04-11-2002, 02:42 PM
 : Welcome back JK!

Duh... I forgot to add that I hate shopping too, there are so many overpriced pretentious shops in the south that are twice the price at least, for the same shirt with a FCUK or topshop logo on it. And poser sheep kids will pay that as well.

I don't buy clothes from anywhere that degrades women, or should I say 13-yr old girls with no boobs yet, in their advertising.

Serenity, I dunno how do describe it better. I just can't stand the thought of someone else having worn what I am wearing. :|

allissson
04-11-2002, 05:14 PM
Johannes - it's lovely to see you here again. that sux about your computer. Necrosoft - I feel the same way about them too sometimes.

Unless you changed your name to Tuonela on the SFP board then no, it wasn't you who told us that he knows what it feels like to have periods because he had a Prince Albert done. Tuonela a very nice guy indeed - but any man should know better than to tell three women something like that.

Johannes Kostaja
04-11-2002, 07:39 PM
Phew!

No, it wasn't me, then. I'm glad about it. Although it could've been one of my side-personalities. ;) Nah. Even they know how to behave.

Now I have a full album of Dom + Roland's magnificent dark drum'n'bass. Thanks to Pete! :) And what I think will scare you even more, is the fact that I've become a heavy user of Fatboy Slim. Am I too extreme for you?

I think I'm in the mood for some really good grind. Now where's my Carcass...?

allissson
04-11-2002, 09:00 PM
Fatboy Slim!?!? Johannes - are you turning into a ghetto dawg on us? I'm not down with that. You must have a fever or something.........you're delirious.

Johannes Kostaja
04-11-2002, 09:24 PM
I am not delirious!
At least not any more than usually. Asiasta kukkaruukkuun.
I came up with a great name for a cat and suggested it to friend who's considering to buy a feline. The name would be Napalm! Isn't it great? ...Napalmi ja Vaahtosammutin. That's the name for his second cat - Fire Extinguisher! Damn I'm good!

Also a highly poisonous tarantula called Päivi would be a blast. :D
-D'you see anything moving in the bed... beside you?
-No. What's here then?
-Oh, nothing... Just Päivi. My pet.
-Cute. Is it some kind of a rodent?
-Nah. It's a deadly spider.
-*Add here your favourite spider bite sound effect*. Personally I like *chomp*. :)

People at the 'Farm didn't appreciate me much for sharing these ideas with them. Odd...

Laine
04-11-2002, 10:05 PM
I ordered two d'n'b-related cd's too (among 25 others) a week or so ago, Winterkälte and Venetian Snares. And not one cd of metal! Hahahahahaa!

JK - you just go often to the 'farm people and suggest silly pet names/other things? Aren't they supposed to be busy businessmen or something? :D

Johannes Kostaja
04-11-2002, 10:39 PM
Busy businessmen? On the other hand yes... But they're also absolutely mad! Every single one of them! I was conducting business there today and having strange conversations on the side. As is customary whilst on the 'Farm.

I guess I should go see Ajattara tonight. They're cool. Pasi has a great necklace. ;) You're never going to get that one.

allissson
04-11-2002, 11:43 PM
you'd name a cat Napalm? That's not a cat name. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> Pasi is a better cat name. Napalm should be the spider's name. :) I have an oak tree named Tapio - don't vitun laugh either - I sometimes give my plants names. I have raised that tree from an acorn.

What "farm" is this you go to Johannes?

Laine
04-12-2002, 12:29 AM
I'd guess it's the spiney one...

Hmm, I think "Sarin" would be a good cat name.

Serenity
04-12-2002, 01:30 PM
Tapio is a fu.cking great name for a tree, describes the way they can live for ages...

If I had a cat, I´d propably call it Sarita (if it was a girl)since I read about a cat named Sarita when I was a "vaahtosammutin" myself :) or Louhi might be a good one too since cats are so unpredictable. I´m more of a dog person anyway.

Johannes Kostaja
04-12-2002, 02:30 PM
Above you can see two great names for cats.
Me? I'm a dog person really. But it's fun to invent names. And I think Napalm is a great name for a cat.

Tapio is a cool name for a tree. And yes the farm is spiney.

Spinefarm......of course. :) because you were talking about animals I thought perhaps you worked on a farm with them.

I've been to the Spinefarm shop - it's a beautiful shop they have there. The shop staff were very nice too. They even let me take pictures of it. :)

I like dogs when they belong to other people. For me CATS RULE!!!

next cat I get will probably be named Bastet :)
