Now I finally remembered this while being here. Have you notised that the folk-melody in Kylän päässä is exactly like in this old finnish traditional about Iitin Tiltu.

Is this just coincidence or do you need to confess something Trollhorn??? ;)

The melody fits in that song perfectly but this has been bothering me since I heard the song first time.

Every riff & melody in Moonsorrow´s music is just pure coincidence!

Hehheh, I kind of saw that coming... :) If you think, everything under the sun is really coincidence...

I guess Henri will answer your question as soon as he gets back on-line from a certain studio session from Savonlinna. As I don´t know the song you mentioned I cannot comment anything special (oh, then when do I? :) ).

Can be found on disc two of M.A. Numminen's Kiusankappaleita 1. Iitin Tiltu oli viidentoist... tai jotain.

My father actually noticed the same thing in Kylän Päässä and he said it has the same melody in it. I haven´t heard it yet so I cannot comment but I think it´s pure coincidence. Or are you Henri familiar with Iitin Tiltu ?

Hmm..never heard of that song before,by Oden!
The funny thing is,that the melody is actually composed to be played with the next riff in line, (the one where electric guitars come in,after the melody accompanied with acoustics.) and what I am trying to tell is that I had the guitar-riff first and the melody was composed on the top of the riff. So,it´s very interesting how is it possible that I sort of "made" a melody which already seems to exist?

As you propably know,it´s much easier to "invent" an existing riff if it suddenly starts to "play" inside your head, but I have never come along with that kind of thing where I intentionally MAKE a melody, which later appears to be someone else´s... :(
Fokken´spooky........

Very intresting. Could this be considered as another evidence of genetic memory (lajimuisti in finnish, if this english term I quickly thought up doesn't mean anything).

If you are talking about the folk-riff of Kylän päässä which comes at approximatly 6min:
then it is even more interesting because there is practicly the same riff in Kolyada, from Nokturnal Mortum, at the end of the song.

I think they're talking about the accordion riff played in the first "verse".

Anyway I don't think the riff you're talking about resembles Kolyada that much. They have three, maybe four first notes in common but the rest is completely different.

You should definitely listen to Iitin Tiltu Trollhorn, because it came to my mind the first time I heard Kylän päässä and I also tested my theory. I played the song to my mum who is a huge fan of folk-melodies and she said like...I have heard this before, isn´t this Iitin Tiltu...

But yes, it´s f-king spooky what you said about the composition process, or maybe it´s due to "lajimuisti", dunno, scary anyway
