I play in another band (the/karma/end) with Henry Ranta. So when The Defaced decided to change lineup

Henry asked me if I was intrerested to join..... and I was! :rock:


3. How long have you played bass?

Hmmmm, 8 or 9 years with intensive practicing


4. What are some bands you have played in prior to The
Defaced? Are you active in those bands now?

Right now I'm active in the/karma/end which is more like alternative pop/rock. Otherwise I've just
played in a cuple of local bands, nothing special.


5. Name some of your musical influences.

Persons: Flea and Jaco Pastorius
Bands: Red hot chili peppers, Metallica, Pantera, Jeff Buckley and many more (especially danish rockbands)


6. Can you play other instruments besides bass?

I play guitar sometimes but I'm not very good at it though.


7. How much money is in your wallet right now?

Hehehe I have 465 SEK it's like 46,5 EUR


8. What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?

I don't want to reveal this now because I've already answered this question in my biography which will be updated soon. *teaser* I can say it's pretty damn weird. ;)


9. Can you drive a car? Ride a bicycle?

Yes I can drive a car and ride a bicycle. I hope everybody without extreme handicap can ride a bike. Age can also be an excuse.


10. What is the greatest feeling in the world?

This is a very very very tough question so I will answer from a musical perspective (hope it's ok).
Here goes: To get the bass and the bassdrum so toghether that your whole body shakes of happiness!
The good thing is that, with Henry it's not very difficult to get that feeling. You can thank me later for that compliment Henry :D

I joined the band in the middle of creating the new album. Most of the songs are like 80-90% done and they sound great in the rehearsal room. There is nothing more I can say about the new songs.

I didn't dress for halloween this year except my usual clothes hehe. If I could choose any costume in the world that would
be the holiday armadillo-costume that David Schwimmer wore in "Friends".

For many year ago me and my best friend sneaked into my neighbours apartment through his balcony. The neighbour didn't see us because he and his friend played nintendo 8bit in his livingroom. Somehow me and my friend manage to reach Andy's (the neighbour) bedroom (without revealing ourselves) where we inserted an AC/DC record in his cd, turned the volume to MAX, started the cd and ran into his big closet where we could hide. I've never had such problems to "hide" my laughter as then. Unlucky for me was that they heard us and kicked the shit out of us for real.

- Name a CD people would be surprised to learn is in your collection.

It was a gig when our singer sang a completely different song than we were playing.

Tough one,..... Right now we are rehearsing for the new album, which is going to be extremely good according to me. After the album is finished there is nothing settled yet. But for the next 12 month I will have a great time with the guys.

I'm not very fond of reading so I can't answer the question. However, my favourite movie is "Shawshank redemption".

Here's a good topic in itself!

What would you do to help/change your local music scene? What is missing? If it's a lack of places to play, what would be an ideal venue for bands to play in? What does an area need to do to support local music as a whole and generate interest in underground music?

Do you have any local publications that help generate interest in local bands?

The hugest problems in my area are:
1. Lack of venues. Clubs that once thrived were shut down due to lack of funds. Funds come from bands that draw people. People come when shows are advertised. Bands can't advertise much because of lack of funds. Downward spiral and all that.
2. Lack of publicity. Local bands can play, yeah... but there isn't enough local press interest to promote shows. What good is booking a show when you don't have a forum to advertise your show, yanno? We do have a few local publications; however, it seems the interest in bands comes from whatever the band can afford to pay to advertise. Sigh.
3. Lack of radio support. We have exactly ONE station that plays local music for an hour every week. There are some locals in heavy rotation, but these are bands with large record deals churning out regurgitated hard rock radio format crap. BORING!

I could go on and on. I'd love to see some solutions just so bands in hiding can have a forum to come out an play in. Unfortunately in my area that isnt going to happen without some hefty changes. :( I just end up driving long distances to see bands play. I'm just wondering what the comparison is - seeing if this would be a global problem.

Well this seems to be a global problem. We have the exact same problems in Helsingborg. One more this that is devaststing here is that almost everybody who are going to a concert are there for one specific reason......... being "music-guards". They just come to watch the bands fuck up and are not there for the music itself.

But money is the biggest problem. Unfortunately.....

Ugh, I was hoping this was just a local problem. :( There just aren't as many people so excited about music anymore. Over here, a majority - not everyone, but a distinct enough majority of music listeners are perfectly happy with repetitive dreck. This affects our radio, our press, and eventually it affects the bands trying to make art out of the chaos. Frustrating.

Although a curious thought; what would happen if the underground WERE thrown into the mainstream?

Really quick, where is Helsingborg? (Sweden! Duh, Epi! ;) ) Name one really cool thing you like about Helsingborg that I can brag to my friends about. :)

LOL I love your wtf additions! :lol: I'm actually a big fan of Tool. They're one of those bands that people listen to because they're just excellent music to listen to - but a lot of the lyrical content just WHOOSH - goes right over their heads. Same with A Perfect Circle. I adore em, probably because I can understand quite a bit of the lyrical references and can actually hold my attention for an entire album. So what if they're considered mainstream, yanno. They rock. :D The RHCP album that still owns me to this day is Mother's Milk. :headbang: Bought it on tape many moons ago, bought it again after the first one *melted*, bought it again on CD. Still enjoy it. One Hot Minute was another faboo album too. Although I keep hearing fans really didn't care for that album. I can't figure out why?

Sorry, help me out with what you mean by "theme".
A holiday theme would be a recurrent idea or artistic representation. For instance, I have an aunt that owns several Christmas trees - she decorates all of them differently. Some people like religious themes, some like Santa Claus themes, red and green color theme, etc. :)

Personally, I wear a pair of Christmas socks and a red Santa hat when the holidays approach. Which reminds me, I need to dig those out. I also decorate with many wreaths and red ribbons. :)

A fake one. Very small with shifting lights. It's gorgeous.

I got a ninja turtle doll (Rafael), but it wasn't an original version of it. I cried the rest of that day hahahaha.

Yup, definitely a parody, but not of U2's album title. It's a Swedish group that makes funny songs in German. Don't ask me why but I guess they find German to be a funny language. "Tyskarna" actually means The Germans. There you have it...
