Don't you ever read your mail (erkamail@yahoo.com). I have my one-man finnish pagan-folk-metal project with various traditional instruments, and I have posted a question about that topic (and an album order too) to that mail address.
I have done nothing yet (except written songs), but you will hear about me when im done something.

P.S. Metsatöll rules!!

Ok, it's in the steel@metsatoll.ee. You can ansver here if you like, maybe someone else is interested too, who knows.
About the bands who use traditional instruments:
There is few bands that uses accordion, Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Shaman, and maybe Turisas? (the common thing about the first three: Trollhorn:evil: ). Shaman also uses witchdrums and lapponian joik-singing. Haven't heard about others, It's quite quiet here. I guess that Sweden is pretty much richer in that scene (trying to make the situation better:mad: ).

I will answer as soon, as I get more time.. I have not see any books from estonian bagpipe "torupill" there is books from estonian traditional instruments in owerall, but not only torupill.. I can send, if you intrested, books from estonian "kannel" (kantele) or "lõõtspill" (almost like accordion). Torupill you can only get from estonia.. there is some men left, who know, how to do it.. most famous- Ants Taul.. if you could come to Viljandi folk-festival (in the end of july) then I could manage your meeting with torupill-maker. Estonian bagpipe is a little similar to macedonian/greek pipe.. so its chanters are made so, that the voice is continous (not like Northumbrian pipes) Usually torupill is in A key.. but can also be in any.. Drones can be A,E or D.. there is pipes with one drone bass.. or up to 4.. I play with one droned Ants Taul bagpipe .. and I change keys and scales sometimes.. so.. but usually the scale is E,F#,G,G#,A,A#,B,c,c#,d and the bass is in D or E.. some other notes are also playable, but they're not "clean" so.. I can use them only in soloplaying.. blablabla.. If I got more time, I'll tell more, If someones intrested..

hyvää uutta vuotta :P !

by the way.. I have seen Shaman once.. they were in Estonia.. about a year ago.. they were pretty good.. Wierd, that Finntroll doesnt mention his Accordion on their records.. I have two of them but.. Does Trollhorn read this ? Your comments ? :) And I read one interwiew with ..Somnium.. and he doesnt speak of it too.. hmm..
and one thing more.. you can answer in finnis, I can fully understand it, its only difficult to write in finnish beacause of my practics.. :)

Kiitos! Olisi hienoa tulla Viljandin folk-festivaaliin.
Olen toki kiinnostunut muistakin virolaisista kansansoittimista, joten minulle kelpaisi joku yleispätevä ja hyvä teos jossa olisi tietoa Torupillistä.
Sain jostain sellaisen käsityksen, että säkin yläosassa on pilli jonne puhalletaan, ja alaosassa pilli josta ääni tulee ulos ja jota säädellään reikiä tukkimalla. Minkäköhänlainen systeemi siinä mahtaa olla? Olen soittanut jonkunverran tinapilliä ym. ja nokkahuilua. Onkohan näissä mitään samaa?

P.S. Taisi tulla puhuttua paskaa siitä Suomipeikon haitarista. ...Taisi humppa-imago vain hämätä. Muistelisin, kuitenkin että Midnattens Widunderilla olisi joku vieraileva hanuristi tai jotain?

I could say that Viljandi Folk fest. is wery damn good.. but on last year it were already too much commercial.. so you must hurry in this year (seek at www.folk.ee) because noone konws, what could happen in next or year after it.. in this year there were even one country-rock-karelians.. too bad :(
yes, the system of playing torupill, is the same, as in recorder or whistles, but as I said, the keys are different and you also must control your breathing well..
you can see torupill from here - www.users.on.net/kustas/torupill/ (http://www.users.on.net/kustas/torupill/)

siis.. terveyttä..

Tyylikäs sukunimi olisi muuten Paganus :)
