ever heard of him? I'm reading one of his books. the original title is "Ukkosenjumala poika" – I'm reading only a translation.
the story is: the ancient Finnish gods and goddesses decide to send Ukko's son Rutja down to earth to Finland to convert the Finns to the old belief; just like the christian god sent his son =) They choose a man for body-trade (since Rutja has to be human too, to be more credible, like jesus): Sampsa Ronkainen, a loser-type who is exploited by everyone all the time.
the introduction and description of the various gods and goddesses were so funny and of such fine irony, I had to big-grin all the time :D :D lots of direct and indirect allusions and hints at present-day issues and topics, it's hilarious reading!! XD
at the moment, I'm at the point when Rutja (already in the human body of Sampsa) notices a double-standard in christian morals -- *still rofl when reading which circumstance made him notice that :D * -- learns how to drive a car, scares ppl. in the town and drives to the enemy's cult place (= church) to have a talk with the priest =)

Heh. Yeah, considering he's one of the most popular authors here. He has some funny books, but many (especially newer ones) are crap. Never read Ukkosenjumalan Poika, planned to, but I've also planned getting rich and famous, but things never really work out like you planned... :D
Jäniksen Vuosi and umm.... the one where dead are in afterlife are good books from A.P. (I'll have check for that other book's name)
Edit: The afterlife book is "Herranen Aika". btw. this topic is the first one on (any) TBL forum that made me go  when I saw the name. Not even "Do you wash your navel?" managed to do that.

Nope never heard of him but Moonsorrow has got a song with the same title (Ukkosenjumalan Poika). Perhaps inspired by that very book (?). Know if any of his books are available in English (or Swedish)?

This is what I found from web:
Swedish:
Jäniksen Vuosi (don't know the swedish name... maybe "År om hare" or something like that (probably grammar wrong there...))
Den ylande mjölnaren
De hängda rävarnas skog
Åskgudens son
Den ljuva giftkokerskan
Kollektivt självmord
Livet är kort, Rytkönen lång
Hoppsan, jag är död! ( LOL what a translation)
Rovasti Huuskosen petomainen miespalvelija (don't know swedish title)
Aatami ja Eeva (again... Adam och Eva? )
English:
The Year of the Hare
Seitsemän Saunahullua Suomalaista (don't know translated title)
Kymmenentuhatta vuotta (maybe "10000 years")
I might've missed a few, check here: http://www.klak.com/paasilinna/kaannokset.php

Jäniksen Vuosi
Should be "Harens År" in Swedish I think.
Hoppsan, jag är död!
Hahahaha yeah. Pretty ridiculous indeed :D
Aatami ja Eeva (again... Adam och Eva? )
Yep!
Thanx a million V.o.G! I will check out those books as soon as I find the time!

"Hirtettyjen kettujen metsä" ("De hängda rävarnas skog" in swedish, it seems) was a rather good book; though it has been quite a long time (about 10 years) since I read it, so I might not like it nowadays too much.
Oh, and hello to everyone! It's nice to see this new forum working well - and I love these new smilies! :bounce:

I'm a bit disappointed. the ending of the story is too straight and too predictable ... http://imbiss-coding.de/smiliez.de/smiliez/smiliez.de_1288.gif the story gets wimpish in the end.... that's a pity, cos the beginning and also the main action are good.
