Rating: 7.5/10

My first reaction on this album was not very positive; the idea came to mind I had heard all this before. But when I listened to the album again and again, I began to discover new things, and I actually started to like it.

Musically, it’s melodic death-metal with lots of fast and catchy guitar-riffs, like they (used to) produce it in Gothenburg a lot. It’s not the next best thing in this genre, but it sure is a good album! Their drummer knows how to hit his skins, and their 4 (!) guitarists plus guest- guitarist know how to produce a solid wall of sound. Man, their guitarsound is ripping! But it surely will be crowded on stage… Female vocalist Lady Martex has obviously paid attention to the vocal activities of Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy), because their voices show a lot of resemblance, which is not meant in a negative way! I think they both have great voices!

The sound and production is pretty good, although due to the use of so many guitar- layers, some details seem to fade away. And that’s a shame, ‘cause these axe-men know how to write some nice riffs. But that’s also the slight little problem I have with this album. The album as a whole is quite good, and of course it has its ups and downs, but those are moments and riffs, not songs that particularly stand out above the rest.

As a whole the album leaves a quite good impression, but after playing this album for the first time, I couldn’t say I was impressed by some songs. And I sure can’t say that they left me astonished! So the problem I have with this album is that it is pretty enjoyable, but don’t expect really strong songs which stick in your head for long.

The band started out as a side-project of members of different Polish bands and started out with 5 (!) guitarists, now they only have 4 plus 1 guest-player… Their label claims that “this is one of the longest awaited debuts in the Polish metal scene!” Now I wouldn’t go as far as that, like I said before; it’s not the next best thing, though it surely is more aggressive and more brutal than the latest Soilwork or the latest In Flames. So, all in all, it’s quite a good album, and I guess this album will not only appeal to the standard Gothenburg-freaks, because it’s just a tad more brutal and aggressive. By the way, their At The Gates-cover is nice, but I like the original more!

ENTER CHAOS - Dreamworker
Label: Metal Mind Records
Als Bonustrack wird eine Coverversion vom AT THE GATES-Klassiker „Cold“ aufgefahren, was man besser gelassen hätte.

That same review from Earshot, but in English. Thanx to OPACITY for traslated!

The name Enter Chaos didn't ring a bell at all until I received the promo cd, but the attached info said that this album is one of the most expected ones of the year 2002 - interesting! Have I missed out something? Anyway, I start looking at it with growing tension...

Behind somewhat - let's say - strange pseudonyms like Mr. "OZZ" or Mr. "VERYMETAL", various members of well-known Polish bands like BEHEMOTH, DIES IRAE, DEVILYN, and others are hiding. The all-star-project wants so create a blend of melodic sounds ? la IN FLAMES or GARDENIAN, classical Swedish death ? la DISMEMBER and tough viscous Ami death ? la IMMOLATION - and I can say, that it does work indeed. But because of the effort to sound like these bands, it is not of greatest originality. However, when you're fan of named bands, you cannot go wrong lending an ear to the album. At first the vocals reminded me at some points of the new front woman of ARCH ENEMY. A look at the infosheet confirmed me that it is a woman - but if I wouldn't read it, it could also be a husky, growling guy.

The production of the album is sufficiently transparent, but the guitars have an awefully scratchy sound. The performance of the guitars however, is quite well. The drums have the well-known trigger-sound of BEHEMOTH und fit well to the overall-sound.

As bonus track a cover version of the AT THE GATES classic "Cold" is on the album as well, which they better should have left out. Since the sound of the album is much like the sound of the original, you could suppose that the song is of the same quality as the original, but that is not achieved to 100%. Some unclean details and the fact that the lady on the micro cannot reach the voice of the famous Tompa make this song not a fave one. The rest of the CD is really ok, that's why I give 4 points for an at least over-average CD.
4/7 attribute: good

ENTER CHAOS (POLONIA) "Dreamworker" CD
METAL MIND PRODUCTIONS, 2002
NUMERO DE TEMAS: 10
DURACION TOTAL: 40:02
MP3 DISPONIBLE: NO

ENTER CHAOS - Dreamworker
CD, 2002, Metal Mind Productions
Oricum Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) si Cadaveria (Cadvaeria, ex-Opera IX) au o concurenta foarte serioasa in persoana Martei.

In Practice, Mutant, Grief Of Emerald).

Very funny review from Dutch Quintessence (http://www.quintessence.sh). Funny, because it sounds like a joke, not review... Vader, Morbid Angel, thrash...

Dreamworker
Metal Mind Productions

Enter chaos is also pretty new to me, I haven’t heard from them before, and frankly I don’t really regret it. I guess you can classifie this under standard-nothing special death/blackmetal, pretty much in fast pace and some cool melodies added to top it off. This isn’t really that bad, but totally not exciting at the same time. The production is doable, nothing bad, nothing really exceptional. As far as influences go, I’d say you can compare them to some 90’s death metal bands, some Morbid Angel I definitly hear, some Vader, etc The vocals remind me of oldschool thrashmetal, which is totally not my cup of tea, but oh well.. Let us not forget a rather well executed coverversion of At The Gates classic ‘Cold’, which is the best thing about this release, if not be for the vocals who kind of royally ruin it. Overall not a bad release, just nothing that can really catch your attention; the layout seems to be professional, some good digital imagery on here, which is probably the most positive point about this release, and this review, if you want to waste money, go ahead & buy this.

Enter Chaos"Dreamworker"

Another Metal mind records release."Dreamworker" of Enter chaos is one of the long awaited albums on the metal scene this year. Album is a coolection of 9 songs fast melodic death metal with some psychodelic stuff and the cover of At the gates"cold".The vocalist and the leader of the band -Marta Mager says: "On this record will find something interesting. This album is deepely rooted on one side in melodick and powerful songs in a style of In flames,Gardenian and "old Sweden" like Dismember and on the other side you can find there hard and twisted guitar riffs witch can remind you Immolation and Death."And he is right.Enter chaos really reminds me Death and In flames. So lets wait their new album!

So weit, so gut.

Yeah, I expect quite something when I look at the line-up of Enter Chaos, it reads like the who-is-who in the Polish Death-scene. Seven known and experienced musicians (Havoc from Behemoth for example) decided in January this year to bring us some bliss and entertainment with a mutual side project. But none of that: what's in a name, when the whole just won't work! "Dreamworker" offers (as expected) a broadly varied collection of different directions – fast and melodic to psychedelic and brutal death-like. So far so good. Also, there's no doubt that all musicians know how to handle their instruments. Brutal drums, awesome guitar-soli, very varied vocals.... but: it makes no sense when the whole thing just won't flow one into another. This impression leaves Dreamworker. At some points you think that everyone is playing his own song. Sure, there are some highlights as well (which bewares the review of only 2 points): for example, the very convincing death-hymn Chaos, or the really well done cover version of At The Gate's classic Cold. But still, not more than 3 points. Even a side project can grow together with some working-together and eventually build a homogenous unity. I hope that for Enter Chaos, because there definitely lies potential in it!

Review: Enter Chaos is a so strange band for me. They make a really not so special music, but after you listen once, you want to listen to it again...and don´t know why!. From 90's classic way of playing death metal like bands such as Morbid Angel, Vader or Nephast, to some trash ones as Destruction or Testament. All the guitar sections are quite good and due that trash touches reminds me when I started listening to "harder-than-heavy-metal" music, long time ago :-).

From the cover to inner artwork and overall music, this band looks so professional and I think next time will be their time to rule the underground. Now, is perhaps so early for them, but if you want to listen good music, you can try this one, and also if like At The Gates, you´ll find here a cover from "Cold" track.

ENTER CHAOS - DREAMWORKER
Metal Mind Productions, 2002

Over the last few years I've grown into a big fan of Polish metal listening to bands like Vader, Sirrah and Behemoth in particular. So I was very excited when the debut album from Polish Enter Chaos landed on my hallway floor! The story behind this band is a very interesting one, consisting of members, or ex-members, from several different bands (Azarath, Demise, Luna Ad Noctum, Dar Semai, Damnation, Immemorial and Aural Planet), all coming together to create one unity as Enter Chaos. I've had explained to me the rules of the band's composing process and a very intriguing procedure it is. There are 4 guitarists in the band and each individual guitarist had the assignment to write 2 or 3 death metal tunes in their own personal style. One might think this act would lead to a shattered result but actually it has worked out very well. The variation of the material gives the album an extra boost and the mix of melodic and frantic death is scrumptious.

Their Polish heritage can be heard in the uncompromising and extreme spirit of the band and the contagious melodies which have this Eastern Europe touch to them. There are plenty of memorable tunes here but my immediate favourites are the Death reminiscent title-track and ever so furious "Electronic Zombies". Two amazing songs which will be played at all future parties I throw! :) Added to the rooster is also a killer version of At the Gates' thrashing "Cold"! A nice cover choice to say the least! Flawless musicianship and a fantastic collection of songs makes this one of the most solid death metal releases of the year. Extra plus for the mindnumbing vocal performance from vocalissa Lady Martex who owns an extraordinary set of vocal chors. Amazing growler!! I can't wait to hear more from this band in the future. A given purchase for all death metal fanatics out there!

It's a good idea to NOT let the label handle any merchandise... that way they don't skim the profits off it, since you don't make a great deal with the albums, you need to guarantee some income, and touring & merchandise are the only spots where you'll make money... just a thought... "Dreamworker" is album of the month in canadien Metallian - http://www.metallian.com

ENTER CHAOS - DREAMWORKER - METAL MIND
Enter Chaos' songs are amazingly precocious in spite of the band having been formed less than a year ago. The talented and mature nature of the compositions is an indication of the advancement of the heavy metal scene as a whole. Featuring five guitarists, three bassists and several guest musicians on the record, Enter Chaos is comprised of members of other Polish bands like Devilyn, Dies Irae and Behemoth. Most of these musicians have either already left the band to concentrate on their main bands or have now moved on to Enter Chaos exclusively. It is of interest to note, if readers will indulge me a tangent, how many Scandinavian bands are marketed as metal and turn out to be nothing more than either warmed-over Depeche Mode clones or poser K&F bands. Then one comes across Enter Chaos, whose label describes them by using adjectives such as melodic and psychedelic, which then manages to crush with a compelling repertoire. Speaking of Sweden, Enter Chaos has many elements of a Dark Tranquillity (before they wimped out) or Arch Enemy. The production is not world-class, but the melodic guitars are played with incredible talent. In fact some of the quirkier parts are reminiscent of Crypt Of Kerberos no less. Soaking in the axework on the song Chaos will easily impress most listeners. Furthermore, and like Arch Enemy, the growler behind the microphone is a female whose voice could easily fool the listener. Marta Meger growls her lungs out and to good effect. Yet the biggest praise goes to L. Rambo on drums. His work is both varied and powerful. Oft when a drummer abandons the straight beat in favour of more adventurous patterns, he ends up losing much of his power. That clearly is not the case on Dreamworker. All in all, Dreamworker is strongly recommended to fans of melodic and varied death metal. Were it not for another redundant cover version, some background keyboards and a slightly weak sound the album would have been nigh on perfect - Ali "The Metallian"

just in for the new batch of BWBK reviews :

ENTER CHAOS

Dreamworker (Metal Mind)

Very cool hearing something other than jackhammer '93 rote-death from the Polish, Enter Chaos combining the six-string sandblasting and vocal gnashing of the Poland's harsh national metal of choice with a well-chosen Swedish death vibe that sits somewhere between pure, hard Soilwork and Darkane and old Scando-masters like Edge Of Sanity, Cemetery and At The Gates (there's an At The Gates cover here as well). The crazy thing is that this thing is a side project, featuring folks from Azarath, Devilyn, Dar Semai, Behemoth, Trauma and Demise, with the requirement that everybody write a track, further surprise coming when you find out that that's a female vocalist - Marta from Immemorial, now deemed Lady Martex. But man, what a crushing sound, hugely dirty, riffs like craggy peaks, complexity that is directed, like I say, toward two schools of Swedish death with doses of neo-black and neo-American death chucked in to yank it extreme. Very, very professional and a caustic confluence of influence.

there's a lot of tidying up I'd like to do if this design is to keep for now... I just want the new design to be ready when the album is... so the earlier I get everything the better. I don't mean right now...

Enter Chaos - Dreamworker (Metal Mind)
Poland's Enter Chaos (featuring members form notable death metal bands Behemoth, Devilyn, and Dies Irae) have created an album that takes the aggressive melodic death metal genre to a cool new level. With exceptional performances all around, this endeavor will surely be eaten up by those who constantly bathe with the Swedes. But Enter Chaos have created something much more noteworthy than a lot of the bands who play this style. Mixing the fine elements of the entire At The Gates catalogue (they even do a swell cover of 'Cold'), touching on elements from the mid-to-latter-day-era Death along with the power of early Arch Enemy and latter-day Carcass, what we have here is one entertainingly scathing listening experience. Surely ambitious, but not too pretentious, hailing from a land which is known for the more brutal and darker death, this new outfit will surely make an impact given the right push and exposure. Oh yeah, and their singer is a female.

Chris Bruni 8/10 (BW&BK Magazine)

I already have loads of work... between proofreading lyrics, laying out a cd/booklet etc, and trying to convince you guys I need better pictures, designing EC website v2, setting up theMetal.net,

plus waiting for the rest of the parts for this new machine to put together...
