Power/true metal

[Warheart]

What's everyone's opinion on power/true metal. Personally I think most of them are fucking great, Manowar and Lost Horizon representing the true metal front and bands like Helloween, Gamma-Ray (I could list more but I'm lazy)

So shoot, how many people here are fans?

Power metal is not my cup of tea....

I only like a few bands with Power metal influence...like Children Of Bodom...

I like power metal, but I don't have that big of a "horizon", it's manly maiden, manowar and helloween for me.

The only power metal band I like is Metalium, so no power metal for me.

I love both ManOwaR and Lost Horizon. Helloween are great too. I like quite a few Power Metal bands but alot of new bands are now just Helloween and Gamma Ray clones. The genre needs a good kick of inspiration into it or it will go stale very quickly.

When in an optimistic and bright mode, I may like bands such as Elvenking, Blind Guardian and Lost Horizon.
Iron Maiden is a band that I like constantly, but I wouldn't call them "power metal"; "heavy metal" would fit better in their case I think.

Well about the CoB comment earlier, very true. Alexi Laiho likes a lot of power metal bands like Manowar (just look at some of the pictures from the Tokyo Warhearts CD and he's wearing their hoodies) but he also likes a lot of black/death etc bands so decided to mix the two...kinda

Not a nig Power Metal fan, except for Nightwish. They are one of my fav bands at at least it is Powerful metal, other wise I don't get the Power in Power metal :rolleyes:

Power Metal is probably my favorite sub-genre. I just could never get into the whole Growling thing with Death Metal (I do like several bands in that genre, though).

Manowar, Sinner, Primal Fear, Rhapsody, HammerFall, Full Strike, Iced Earth, Nocturnal Rites, Edguy/Avantasia, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica etc. being the ones I usually listen to most, however, I like a lot more.

Overall the album is a mixed bag for me. I love a lot of the songs on the album, but I really could have done without the opera stuff! :lol:

Hey! Nessun Dorma was great, they should have got rid of "An American Trilogy" and "Fight for Freedom" and instead put in "Dawn of Battle" and "I Believe"
